I have been looking for a way to "unplug" my phone to free up my hands, but I wanted a wireless unit. After looking around the web I decided to purchase this unit. The base of the unit performs as it should, allowing you to switch between the deskphone and the computer (to use with skype). But, I must say... after spending HOURS trying to get the headset to sound good, it was a lost cause. The microphone was so bad that no matter what I did it always sounded like I was talking in my car with my phone sitting on the passenger seat. I am VERY computer literate (running many web businesses) and I am a formal video engineer... and I couldn't make the microphone work. Also, the earpiece, although not as bad as the microphone, was very low and I couldn't hear it very well. My complaint is with the microphone, and not really the... This normally starts after 30 - 40 minutes. I guessed it has to do with the battery and I call the tech support. They said it is indeed the battery not able to hold the charge. The support engineer said it lasts up to 2 years and here is the interesting fact....you cannot replace the battery. You need to replace the entire headset and it runs to about $60.00. I am very disappointed with the battery life and this is not a cheap unit. We have 4 Plantronics headsets- 3 CS50s and a CS55. Our office staff all use these headsets so that they can move about and answer calls without being tied to the counter. The range is phenomenal- I, in particular often need to go outside to our production area and to the yard, and even when I'm over 200 feet away from the base unit with several concrete and steel walls in between, the sound quality is great. These units also seem to stand up well to abuse- I often use mine while diagnosing vehicle problems and while repairing equipment, and it's gotten grease on it, gotten wet, been dropped, gets used in very cold and hot environments, and is generally mishandled, yet it continues to work flawlessly. My only complaint about it is the over- the- ear clips. they are very uncomfortable for the first few weeks of use. After that, they... The freedom of not being wired to the phone & headset base it great. My only complaint is that the "over the ear" pieces are very hard & uncomfortable -- there are several sizes but after a couple of hours, all earpieces are terribly uncomfortable (and I am someone that has worn over the ear headsets for 10+ years). I finally switched to the "over the head" attachment, which has a nice, padded earpiece and it solved the problem. I usually don't like headbands but this one is very lightweight & doesn't mess up my hair. However, Amazon was quick to replace it with another unit which has been working perfectly for a couple of months now. I'll come back to Amazon for my future buys. |

We have a service and repair business with very busy phones so we are constantly on the telephone taking orders and talking to customers. We can walk about 300 feet away from the base without any problem including outside the office. You may be able to go farther or be limited to shorter distances but I believe it would depend on the construction of your building. There are several buttons on the headset and one I find very useful which is a MUTE button. I can talk privately for a moment if needed without the caller ever knowing and there is no need to put them on hold. The other buttons are for volume and answering the call. One more great feature to point out is that you can move about the office to get files, make copies or faxes and even work from another desk without putting someone on hold.As far as battery life goes, when left to charge...
