Original Dragon product was called Dragon Dictate and then they changed it to Dragon Naturally Speaking in 1997 and I have been using it ever since, faithfully upgrading to each new version. At that time when you called technical support you could even talk to Dr. Janet Baker, the inventor of the speech recognition and founder of Dragon. With version 4 they started Dragon Naturally Speaking Medical and that helped in that medical terminology was already included albeit several folds the cost of the regular professional Dragon Naturally Speaking. Each version has improved the accuracy and they have not made the product unduly complicated or cluttered, as is the usual tendency with software upgrades. Version 11 of Dragon is slower and needs more resources, I could not run it in Windows 7 under Fusion... This review is from: Dragon NaturallySpeaking Premium 11 (Software) Dragon Naturally Speaking Premium 11 by Nuance / B003VNCROUI bought this software with one goal in mind - my intent was to couple the software with a solid voice recorder in order to transcribe spoken notes, reviews, and journal entries. My intent was to "talk on the road" my reviews and journal entries, load the sound files onto my computer at the end of the day, feed them into Dragon, and with a minimum of editing turn out the text so that I could then paste the result into an Amazon window and bang off for the evening. As you will see, this didn't work so well. Firstly, I did my research. The Nuance website has plenty of graphs on the best voice recorders for their software. I eventually went with the Philips Black Digital Voice Tracer 0660 - an inexpensive model (due to its lack of bells and whistles that I... Most importantly for me, Premium can import or export custom word lists. If in your documents you often use a specialized vocabulary, say for a profession or hobby, and you can find online or in a file a list of common vocabulary words... Read more |

| 7 of 7 people found the following review helpful By Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?) This review is from: VXI CORPORATION Blue Parrott Digital Wireless Blutooth Office Headset (B200) (Office Product) I've been using VXI headsets (wired) for a long time. And liked them more than other brands. I had been looking for an over the head bluetooth headset for my cell phone since the beginning of bluetooth. Practical had to wait because, 'over the head' wasn't cool. OK, so VXI finally came out with a headset that I could use in my office or on my cell. Let me have it.Setup was pretty easy. Had to call tech support for one small issue and they were very helpful. In use... well, I'm not ecstatic. Mainly used in the office. There is a pretty good lag from turning the thing on to answer the phone. Sound is good. Range is under 30 feet (they say 60 feet I think...under "ideal" conditions). I'm in a home office with a wireless hub and wireless keyboard/mouse combo close to the base unit. Maybe those things knock down range. I'd blame the hub, but not willing to relocate it. All in all, I'm going to relegate this to the car for the cell phone and get a new Plantronics... Read more 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?) This review is from: VXI CORPORATION Blue Parrott Digital Wireless Blutooth Office Headset (B200) (Office Product) This headset is comfortable, but it had great trouble connecting to my bluetooth-enabled phone. It works well when connecting to its own base stand, but if you want to use this to connect to a different bluetooth device, I would not recommend it. It would refuse to connect often, and sometimes it would drop the connection to my Uniden ELX-500 handset. I replaced it with a Plantronics Voyager 510, and I've very happy. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful By Bright Thinker (Seattle, Washington) - See all my reviews This review is from: VXI CORPORATION Blue Parrott Digital Wireless Blutooth Office Headset (B200) (Office Product) As a telecom engineer, I was excited for my first shot at a wireless headset. I purchased and tested it on an extension of a Nortel Networks PBX system. Although, the headset seemed a bit large it was quite comfortable. However, while using the product a week or so I had the following issues-Calls just dropping. On a conference call my coworker stayed on line while my extension dropped off because of the headset. -The sound quality was quite muffled sounding. Many callers asked why my phone sounded so bad. -More dropped calls The is definitely a product to pass on. It is unstable, poor sound quality, and just a good way to lose friends. Currently testing GN Netcom's product. |
